This weeks Fashionista Friday challenge over at "The Shoe" is to use distress ink, flowers and bling!
I have completely fallen in love with stick pins and have tons of them (either that I made or from swaps) and need a decorative place to house them all. Actually this one is for a swap - but I am in desperate need of something like this for myself. I made the topiary using a small Styrofoam ball and I used hot glue to attach some paper roses (from iamroses.com). I used homemade glimmermist made with perfect pearls and distress ink reinker (tattered rose).
The stick is actually 6 12" wooden skewers glued together and wrapped in ribbon. The base is another small Styrofoam ball wrapped in batting. Using a grommet tool I made a hole in a 4x4 square of fabric that I had on hand and then attached a grommet to keep the hole open and prevent the fabric from fraying. The fabric is then wrapped around the batting/styrofoam ball and secured with a few hand stitches.
The pail is from Michael's and I attached the pin cushion with some hot glue. I added a ribbon bow and a large white pearl. I simply love how it turned out.
Stop on by "The Shoe" and play along this week!
