Birthday Border Sets

I recently joined a birthday border swap over on the cricut message board.  I am no one that scrapbooks all that often - but would love to improve upon that talent so I joined all three groups - yeah I pushed myself (ha ha).  One set was for boys, one for girls and one was misc.  The concept was that it would be cheaper to send in the sets that 12x12 layouts for the groups  this way those that receive them can use them however they like.  I used the sweet treats & forever young cricut carts for these.  I hope that those that receive them will enjoy them!

This was a fun swap and I am thankful for the hostess for yet another way for me to think out of the box!  Have a great day all and thank you for looking!

Coffee Collar Album

It is amazing what you can do when you push yourself!  I made a tea sampler out of coffee collars!  When you start to craft & scrapbook you never look at ordinary things the same.  You find yourself holding things up and wondering.....hmmmm, what could I make out of this.  I recently purchased a bind-it-all (BIA) and must say that I love it!  This is the early workings of it.  I have glued the bottoms of the collars shut and I am going to add several tea flavors!  It was so simple and fun to make - would make a great gift for someone as the possibilities are endless!

I used four coffee collars and covered them in patterned paper.  I bound them with my BIA and then embellished it with prima, liquid pears, glossy accents & stamped images.  I am going to add a few final finishing touches and then I will be ready to give it away!

Tri-Shutter Card

I first made one of these cards in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Shoebox swap that I was in and I loved it!  they are so much fun to decorate and while they look complicated they are really east to make.  I made this one as a friendship card.  The stampset that I used for this card is My Favorute Things:  Coffee?  Tea?.....this company is quickly becoming one of my favorite for stamps.  I colored the image with my copics and stampin' up markers.  I embossed the coffee cups along the top and bottom.

Get well soon card

Feel better soon!  I made this card for a friend who has been fighting a cold for awhile.  I took it to her with a nice bowl of homemade soup and some tea.  I used the My Favorite Things stampset - bunny slippers and colored the image with my copics.  I embossed the background with my cuttlebug swirls folder.

Birds of a Feather

I altered this picture frame for a swap that I am in using the Songbird Cricut cartridge.  This cartridge has quickly become one of my favorite.  I love the images that are available on it and the phrases.  This will come in handy for weddings, anniversaries and so much more!  This swap is not over yet - so lets keep this picture frame a secret!  Oh yeah, please ignore the sideways couple in the frame......

Have a great day!

WOW - what a weekend!

This has been quite the weekend for me.  Yesterday my dear laptop died - taking with it many of my pictures and such - I always say that I am going to backup my files.  Well I learned the hard way that, guess what - you should back up your files!  Fortunately I have a lot of pics on discs and can recover most of them.  But save yourselves the hassle of losing your precious memories and back up your computers.

Today is an exciting day for me.  I have completed all of my required school work for college and now just have to await my grades.  I am graduating in May from the University of Jacksonville with my bachelor's degree in nursing.  My job currently does not compensate for a BSN, but for the most part I did it for myself.  It feels so good to have it under my belt.  It is amazing how school can come in between you and your love of crafting.  One less thing to do leaves so much more time to make cards.

One of the things that I have started since I have picked up crafting & scrapbooking is becoming a chemo angel.  It is an amazing foundation - you are paired with someone diagnosed with cancer and you send them a card and/or small gift once a week.  It has been rewarding to do this....my chemo buddy is a 7 year old boy whom I love to make cards for.  Due to the economy they have seen a drop in the number of chemo angels.  If you are interested please sign up at chemoangels.com - you will not be sorry.

Have a great day all - cannot wait to get busy crafting!

Happy Valentine's Day!

All year long my dear husband watches me craft and create for others (friends I have known forever & those that I have just met).  Well today I honor him, and have made his Valentine's Day card using one of our wedding photos.  I kept it simple, letting the picture of us speak for itself.  I used some stickles on the flowers - gotta have some bling!  Hope that he enjoys it and knows how much he means to mean....today, tomorrow & always.  My Valentine's Day is starting early, at 8:30 am....my wonderful husband is taking me to the Spa for some pampering - as long as we dont' get snowed in....Wishing everyone a great Valentine's Day!

Get it together girl

This week, in between all the normal hustle & bustle, I have tasked myself with the job of organizing my craft space.  I have recently acquired an empty room in our house, but this room is also going to need to allow a guest of two stay here comforatbly so I am trying to consolidate things so that I do not hog up the whole room!  This is what I achieved:

Ribbon, oh my the ribbon was out of control - I have a small collection compared to most (80 different spools) I consolidated that massive basket of ribbon to one 8.5" x 11" plastic drawer - amazing, makes me want to go and get some more (he, he, he.....). I just cut chip board at 2x2.5 and wrapped it around like floss. Then I cut a piece of chipboard 2x9" and taped it into the drawer to provide some seperation in the drawer.

I had an organizer on my desk that had, well JUNK in it, I have used that to store my copics freeing up valuable drawer space. This method is housing my small but growing  collection of copics - I have 85 so far........

Paper...well that is a work in progress. I bought these organizers from Michael's and have 10 different baskets to sort and organize which is nice - just might need 2, or 3 more. But I like the concept as I can just pull out a tray to work with and then put it back. I hope that my organization concepts help someone. If you have any organization ideas please let me know......

Sisterhood of the traveling shoebox

Well my box was delivered to my sister for the 30 day swap & I am so happy that she loved everything. I had one of the best partners I could possibly imagine. We got to know each other so well - it was amazing. My box from her should ship next week - so I will keep you posted on that. Here are some pics from her box.

Sweet Treat - Chipboard house

I entered into another swap. This one is a house swap where we alter chipboard houses based on the monthly theme. January's theme was a sweet shop - I redid this house 3 times before I was happy enough with it to be able to give it to my partner.
We normally mail them out to our partner, but I am fortunate enough to have a partner close by and we are going to meet up to exchange houses when she gets back in to town.
This month we are working on a Irish pub - have so many ideas brewing around for that one, just hope that I can make it work. We shall see.
We were supossed to get more snow yesterday in Virginia Beach, but only got a dusting. Whew......sorry for all those in DC that did get it! Be safe out there! The snowy weather did give me an excuse to sit in the house and craft. I am loving the time that I spend crafting as it makes me feel so relaxed. I have challenged myself to stop buying new items and use what I already have on hand, as I have become quite the collector. Keep your fingers crossed for me, and we will see how this goes!

Gearing up for Valentine's day!
I was fortunate enough to be apart of a Valentine's Day box swap on the Cricut message board! I had a wonderful partner who is a HUGE fan of all things twilight. It was a 30 day swap in which we were given words and we had to make or buy something for our partners based on their likes! It is so much fun and you really get a chance to know someone on these swaps.
I am currently doing a SBS swap (Sisterhood of the traveling shoebox) and a GIBBS (Girls I'm broke box swap) in both swaps I have amazing partners who I am so enjoying getting to know.
My SBS partner should get her box on Monday and I am both nervous and excited. Can't wait for her to see what I did for her!
My Gibbs box is not due until March 13 - so I have some time but I do need to get moving as I only have 5 out of the 25 things made! I should be able to pick up the pace some once school gets out so we shall see!

Have a great day all! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Kelly!

Tonight I sat and stared at a pile of papers trying to come up with the perfect card for one of my dearest friends who will turn 21 (again) on Monday. On the inside I wrote :

Some friends are like salt and pepper
alike in some ways, different in others
but always a very good combination.
Happy birthday to a great friend
who helps bring flavor to my life.
